Q: What is the difference between vented and vent-free (un-vented) gas log sets?
A: Vent-free logs are rated as a heating appliance and do not require venting to the outside. Vented logs are rated as decorative and require venting to the outside. Heatmaster vent-free logs are CSA certified both vent-free and vented.
Q: Since I do not have adequate draft to burn firewood, can I use gas logs instead?
A: No. You can use vent free gas logs but not vented logs. Vented logs require a working flue, the same as burning firewood.
Q: Do vent-free gas logs require any type of maintenance?
A: Yes. Gas logs should be serviced at least annually by a qualified service person.
Q: How can I increase my propane water heater's efficiency?
A: You can increase your water heater's efficiency by draining it every six months to remove lime deposits and sediment.
Q: At what temperature should I keep my propane water heater?
A: Turn down your water heater from the standard 140 degrees to 130 degrees. You could save more than 10 percent on your water-heating bill.
